Goodlake Barns is situated in the picturesque Oxfordshire village of Shellingford, located in the Vale of the White House with magnificent views across the Vale to the Uffington White Horse and the Berkshire Downs. The Vale of the White Horse is a beautiful part of Southern England, named after the iconic chalk figure on the slopes of the Berkshire Downs. It is a rural area benefiting from two National Trails, The Ridgeway and The River Thames Path.

The five cottages are arranged together around an attractive courtyard. The properties can be booked individually, in pairs, or as a whole to sleep between 4 and 28 guests!

The barns vary in age, but the name originates from the stable block constructed in the mid 19th Century by the lord of the manor, Thomas Mills Goodlake. You can see his initials inscribed on the buildings, so be sure to take a look.

The estate was split-up in the1920s and the separate farms and houses were divided up and sold. Church Farm continues to be farmed as an organic dairy farm but from more modern buildings about ½ mile outside the village. The old buildings which now comprise the holiday cottages became redundant and gradually fell into disrepair until their conversion into modern Cotswold holiday cottages.

There are five separate barn conversions offering light and spacious accommodation. Each has their own fully equipped kitchen, sitting room, TV, and WiFi along with plenty of space both inside and out, and ample on-site parking.

They are the perfect base from which to explore the North Wessex Downs and the Cotswolds Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. You will find a range of amenities in the nearby market town of Faringdon which is only 3 miles away and there is a wide range of places to visit including Blenheim Palace, Oxford, and the iconic Uffington White Horse.
