Bag End and Peppercorn Cottage are two beautifully refurbished Cotswold holiday cottages situated in one dwelling. Combined the properties sleep 6+2 guests, in three well-appointed bedrooms, with the +2 option being a double sofa bed in the living room of Peppercorn Cottage, with three spacious bathrooms. This stunning retreat offers spacious, flexible accommodation, perfect for groups of friends or larger families to relax in and enjoy a lovely break in the heart of the Cotswolds. Originally built from Cotswold stone, the properties have a wealth of character features, including exposed stone walls, oak beams, flagstone flooring and wood burning stoves in both the house and the cottage. Nestled in-between the properties is beautiful walled garden, with plenty of outdoor seating and a charcoal barbecue, providing an oasis of peace and tranquillity to enjoy all year round. Bag End and Peppercorn Cottage is a dog friendly holiday home, suitable for one small sized dog!

Main House

Ground Floor

Sitting room
A stylish room with flagstone flooring, oak beams and a large Cotswold stone fireplace, which contains a cosy gas flame effect fire. There is a three-seater sofa, two armchairs, two foot stools, Smart TV with DVD player, and a selection of DVDs

Dining room
Adjoining the kitchen, this sociable room contains a large wooden table with seating for eight and a stone fireplace with a wood burning stove

Kitchen
A modern galley kitchen, with an electric oven, gas hob, fridge/freezer, dishwasher, microwave, kettle, toaster and a Nespresso machine

Conservatory
Accessed from the dining room, with underfloor heating enabling it to be used throughout the year. Two armchairs, large antique mirrored cupboard with games and a window seat

First Floor
On the first floor landing there is a built-in cupboard with a washing machine/tumble dryer

King size bed, Freeview TV with an integrated DVD player, large chest of drawers, antique armchair, full length mirror, hairdryer and 2 x window seats with cushions

Outside
An enclosed walled courtyard garden sits between the main house and Peppercorn Cottage, offering guests the perfect spot to relax and unwind after a day exploring the Cotswold. The garden comprises of paving, plants and seating areas, there is a large outdoor table and six chairs, with a parasol, a further small table and two chairs as well as a charcoal barbecue. The garden also has a separate side access route.

Booking & Payment

StayCotswold is a marketing agent and therefore does not own any of the cottages listed on our website. In terms of cleaning and maintenance, the properties within our portfolio are managed by a third party property manager or the property owner – your pre-arrival email will contain confirmation and contact details for the person managing your property. Bookings made via us form a legal agreement directly between you and the property owner.

For bookings commencing more than 8 weeks in advance, a 30% non-refundable deposit is required to confirm the booking. The balance payment is then due 8 weeks prior to arrival.

All payments are made subject to the cancellation policy set out in the standard Booking Conditions.

Location Information

Bag End & Peppercorn Cottage are located right in the heart of Stow-on-the-Wold, a bustling market town steeped in character and history. Guests have a selection of well-regarded country inns, eateries, tea rooms and boutique shops just moments from the doorstep! Why not enjoy an evening at The Old Butchers, The Old Stocks Inn or Alexiou's restaurant & bar. For breakfast we suggest The Hive, or a coffee from Coach House Coffee.
For your shopping essentials, there is a mini Co-op in The Square, or a Tesco Superstore located on the Fosse Way, less than one mile away.
Stow-on-the-Wold is ideally situated in the North Cotswolds, perfect for exploring the surrounding countryside and nearby towns and villages such as Burford, Moreton-in-Marsh, Bourton-on-the-Water and Broadway.

There is a steep, narrow spiral staircase in the cottage, with low beams at the top of the staircase
  • The front door of the house opens onto the street and guests with young children should take particular care to ensure that the children are supervised when the door is opened
  • The smoke and CO detectors operate on a sound only basis and, therefore, those who have serious impairment of hearing may not be able to hear the alarm systems and could be at risk
  • No smoking or vaping is permitted throughout the property
  • Things to Note...
    • The maximum occupancy for this property is 6+2 guests. Infants do not count towards the occupancy figure, however, due to space restrictions the occupancy can only be exceeded by 1 additional infant
    • Hen and Stag parties are not permitted, though other same sex groups can enquire
    • Events are not permitted without prior consent
    • A security deposit is required at this property
    • Check in is from 16:00 and check out is by 10:00
    • The Stow Horse Fair is held twice a year, typically on the Thursday closest to 12th May and the Thursday closest to 24th October, however, we would recommend checking the exact date ahead of placing your booking. This is a traditional fair for gypsies and travelling people to meet up and trade which dates back to 1476 when its Charter was granted. Stow is very busy for a day or two before and after each fair, and a number of shops, pubs and restaurants are closed. Whilst many visitors enjoy the colour and vibrancy associated with the fairs, other visitors prefer to avoid Stow on these dates
    Security Deposit

    A security deposit of £350 is required for bookings at this property. This amount will be pre-authorised on your credit card 7 days prior to your arrival date, providing no damage is reported the pre-authorisation will be released 5 days after your departure. For the avoidance of doubt, guests are requested to leave the property in a reasonable condition, consistent with the property's appearance upon arrival.
