The Old Bakehouse is a beautifully presented grade II listed holiday home, which sleeps four guests, in two well-appointed bedrooms, with two bright and airy ensuite bathrooms. Attached to the rear of the owners home, with picturesque views over the garden and backing directly onto the village green. This delightfully cosy, yet homely apartment boasts a spacious open-plan living area, complete with a well equipped kitchenette, perfect for rustling up a simple meal after a day exploring all that the Cotswolds has to offer. Dating back to the 17th century, The Old Bakehouse has plenty of character and charm including original 'A' frame exposed oak beams and high vaulted ceilings, and being recently renovated, this lovely holiday home has a contemporary finish, with elegantly furnishings throughout.

The garden is shared with the property owner, however, two separate private areas for guests will be available from Spring 2023, including a tranquil patio area, home to an outdoor table and chairs, plus a log burner (available on request)

  • The property is centrally heated with a Biomass wood pellet boiler from October to April/May and electric radiators when required with hot water coming from a solar thermal panel
  • Starter supply of wood provided for the external log burner from October to April only 
  • A gravelled pathway leads to the property from the parking area with 3 inch steps to each level
  • Steps lead up to the property with a handrail provided, inside bedroom 2 and the main living area downstairs has sloped ceilings
  • The shared garden area is partially enclosed, therefore children should be supervised outside
  • The smoke and CO detectors operate on a sound only basis and, therefore, those who have serious impairment of hearing may not be able to hear the alarm systems and could be at risk
  • No smoking or vaping is permitted throughout the property

  • The maximum occupancy for this property is 4 guests. Infants do not count towards the occupancy figure, however, due to space restrictions the occupancy can only be exceeded by 2 additional infants
  • Events are not permitted without prior consent
  • A security deposit is required at this property
  • Check in is from 17:00 and check out is by 10:00
  • The Old Bakehouse is a self-contained property which adjoins the main house where the owners live
  • The master bedroom is linked to the main house via a door which is locked
Security Deposit

A security deposit of £150 is required for bookings at this property. This amount will be pre-authorised on your credit card 7 days prior to your arrival date, providing no damage is reported the pre-authorisation will be released 5 days after your departure. For the avoidance of doubt, guests are requested to leave the property in a reasonable condition, consistent with the property's appearance upon arrival.

StayCotswold is a marketing agent and therefore does not own any of the cottages listed on our website. In terms of cleaning and maintenance, the properties within our portfolio are managed by a third party property manager or the property owner – your pre-arrival email will contain confirmation and contact details for the person managing your property. Bookings made via us form a legal agreement directly between you and the property owner.

For bookings commencing more than 8 weeks in advance, a 30% non-refundable deposit is required to confirm the booking. The balance payment is then due 8 weeks prior to arrival.

All payments are made subject to the cancellation policy set out in the standard Booking Conditions.

Location Information

The Old Bakehouse is located in the picturesque village of Churchill, an unspoilt village surrounded by breathtaking countryside and home to The Chequers, a highly acclaimed country pub, where you can enjoy a locally brewed beer or rustic dishes using the very best British ingredients in their restaurant.
For your shopping essentials, there are a number of supermarkets and independent retailers in Chipping Norton, as well as local farm shops which include Diddly Squat and Daylesford Organic.
Churchill's location is ideal for exploring the honeypots of the North Cotswolds such as Stow-on-the-Wold, Bourton-on-the-Water and Kingham, the latter having a train station with direct lines to both London and Birmingham.
