Travellers Joy is a Grade II listed Cotswold holiday cottage near Stow-on-the-Wold which has been beautifully furnished and can welcome 4+2 guests in two well-appointed bedrooms, with the +2 option being a super king size day bed in the Snug. On the ground floor is an open plan living/dining room with original fireplace and wood burning stove, a modern well-equipped kitchen, with views of the garden which can be accessed via french doors in the adjoining snug.

StayCotswold is a marketing agent and therefore does not own any of the cottages listed on our website. In terms of cleaning and maintenance, the properties within our portfolio are managed by a third party property manager or the property owner – your pre-arrival email will contain confirmation and contact details for the person managing your property. Bookings made via us form a legal agreement directly between you and the property owner.

For bookings commencing more than 8 weeks in advance, a 30% non-refundable deposit is required to confirm the booking. The balance payment is then due 8 weeks prior to arrival.

All payments are made subject to the cancellation policy set out in the standard Booking Conditions.

Location Information

Lower Swell is a small scenic village, located just a mile from the market town of Stow-on-the-Wold where you will find a bustling Cotswold town, full of shops selling local produce and plenty of eateries. We would highly recommend a visit to the Old Butchers or The Old Stocks Inn, both offering fabulous Cotswold food and drink menus. From the cottage doorstep, are a number of footpaths so why not head out on foot and return to to the village pub, The Golden Ball for a hearty meal and local ale and immerse yourself in village life.
For your shopping essentials, there is a Co-op in the market square of Stow-on-the-Wold or a Tesco just on the outskirts of Stow.
Travellers Joy sits in the heart of the North Cotswolds and is perfectly placed for visiting other much loved Cotswold towns and villages like Bourton-on-the-Water, Moreton-in-Marsh and The Slaughters, all within easy reach by car.

  • This is an old, Grade II listed property with many character features including low beams, some uneven flooring and some sloping ceilings
  • The front door opens onto the road and so guests with young children should take particular care to ensure that children are supervised when the door is open
  • The smoke and CO detectors operate on a sound only basis and, therefore, those who have serious impairment of hearing may not be able to hear the alarm systems and could be at risk
  • No smoking or vaping is permitted throughout the property
Things to Note...
  • The maximum occupancy for this property is 6 guests. Infants do not count towards the occupancy figure, however, due to space restrictions the occupancy can only be exceeded by 3 additional infants
  • Hen and stag groups are not permitted
  • Events are not permitted without prior consent
  • A security deposit is required at this property
  • Check in is from 17:00 and check out is by 10:00
  • The Stow Horse Fair is held twice a year, on the Thursday closest to 12th May and the Thursday closest to 24th October. This is a traditional fair for gypsies and travelling people to meet up and trade which dates back to 1476 when its Charter was granted. Stow is very busy for a day or two before and after each fair, and a number of shops, pubs and restaurants are closed. Whilst many visitors enjoy the colour and vibrancy associated with the fairs, other visitors prefer to avoid Stow on these dates
Security Deposit

A security deposit of £250 is required for bookings at this property. This amount will be pre-authorised on your credit card 7 days prior to your arrival date, providing no damage is reported the pre-authorisation will be released 5 days after your departure. For the avoidance of doubt, guests are requested to leave the property in a reasonable condition, consistent with the property's appearance upon arrival.
