Luxury three bedroom holiday cottage in the Cotswolds

There's no doubt the level of luxury and detail in furnishings, decor and accessories is top notch here, but the price tag kind of demands that! The peace and quiet and perfect location to explore the Cotswolds were also highlights. The downsides are easily fixable, so hope the owners do: There was no microwave!! An essential for families. There were too many cobwebs to pass off as missed. The heating (supposedly set at a constant 22 degrees) dropped below 18 and the whole house was very cold. You're not allowed to alter the thermostat so I emailed and phoned the contact (in the house book) and eventually this was increased for our last two days stay. 18 degrees is too cold to be comfortable, and I've never stayed somewhere where the customer isn't allowed to choose the temperature. Quick fixes if the owner wants to make them. Otherwise, it was a beautiful place to stay and great that each bedroom has its own bathroom.

My In-laws, my husband and I all thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Donnington! Every one of us remarked on how beautifully the home is decorated. The beds and furniture are comfortable. We found everything we needed in the kitchen. The washer and dryer were appreciated. And, although they let us know that there was no iron or ironing board (we brought ours), there actually was, in the laundry room, so, thank you. The outdoor furniture was perfect for our one day warm enough to sit outside and the garden flowers were beautiful. Our walks into Stow were enjoyable after a local man explained where to walk through the fields. We only wish we had also walked into Moreton-in-Marsh. Maybe next time. Thank you for sharing this wonderful home with us! :)

It was very conveniently located. Not walking distance to any shop, but not a far drive to get to the store or restaurants. It was a quiet, peaceful neighborhood. It was nice having a house where the four of us could store food items in the refrigerator, wash clothes before we left, visit in the evenings in the living room together. The things that should be fixed: The hot water in the main kitchen faucet makes a loud ear piercing noise when you turn it on, really at any level (small trickle or more steady stream). The oven has three sections, but the main large section didn't seem to have power to it, whereas he smaller ovens that aren't as desirable to use (because of compact size, not fitting a normal tray), did work. It would be helpful to have some brief explanation in the binder about how to work the oven and the keys - they required a lot of spinning around to get things locked and unlocked. The toilet paper and paper towels provided were transparently thin and poor quality - it reflects on the house when this is the level of supplies. In the U.S. when you stay in a home rental, shampoo and bar soap is usually provided. I was extremely disappointed with the inaccurate advertising which said clearly in multiple places (original booking website, binder provided on kitchen island) that firewood would be provided for the fireplace through the end of April. Since we were there April 27, 28, 29, 30, wood should have been provided. When I emailed to ask about that, the property manager replied that it is only through the end of March, which contradicts everything in writing that I relied on. We finally went to the store the last couple nights and bought our own wood (and matches which for some reason weren't provided anywhere), and having a fire made a huge difference of warming the first floor. My parents are 77 years old and they were cold 80% of the time when they weren't under their comforter in bed, which was not comfortable or pleasant for them. The heated towel rack was always warm in my bathroom, but not in the others. My parents (in the large primary bedroom/bathroom) said the bathroom floor was not consistently heated - sometimes warm, sometimes cold. I have never stayed in a vacation home where you have to email and plead with the owner to turn up the heat in the house. Even the cheapest hotel allows you to control a thermostat. We also did not understand that you could not blow dry your hair after a shower, in the bathroom. We found no outlets in the bathroom that worked for the provided blow dryers. The bedding was comfortable and warm. The kitchen supplies were very useful and nice. The magazines were appreciated. The email responsiveness was excellent. I just think there are some things that need to be checked out (large oven section and hot water faucet in kitchen, heated towel racks, etc), improve the quality of supplies provided, be truthful on the firewood provisions, and let tenants decide what temperature is comfortable for them - that would elevate the experience at this house and allow you to charge a higher rate.
