For some the term ‘spa’ conjures up images of toga-clad Romans luxuriating in thermal pools within pillared courtyards. And so it was centuries ago in Bath. But 21st century tourists are now free to enjoy a thoroughly modern experience at Thermae Bath Spa. Here you can bask in the same mineral-rich, thermal waters but in the luxury, open-air rooftop pool with its stunning views over the city. And while you’re there, why not try their ‘Roman Trilogy’ treatment, including salt body scrub, nourishing massage and revitalising facial. Pass me a grape.
