Bunt Barn is a spacious, characterful barn conversion near Stow-on-the-Wold, welcoming up to six guests across three king size bedrooms near Stow-on-the-Wold. Across the open plan ground floor, you'll find a country style kitchen/dining room, with french doors leading onto the patio, a bright and inviting living room where you can enjoy views across the large surrounding garden and a dedicated cloakroom/study. The family friendly holiday home is also bursting with character, from Cotswold stone walls to exposed wooden beams, making you feel very at home in the Cotswolds.

StayCotswold is a marketing agent and therefore does not own any of the cottages listed on our website. In terms of cleaning and maintenance, the properties within our portfolio are managed by a third party property manager or the property owner – your pre-arrival email will contain confirmation and contact details for the person managing your property. Bookings made via us form a legal agreement directly between you and the property owner.

For bookings commencing more than 8 weeks in advance, a 30% non-refundable deposit is required to confirm the booking. The balance payment is then due 8 weeks prior to arrival.

All payments are made subject to the cancellation policy set out in the standard Booking Conditions.

Location Information

Located in Broadwell, a mile from Stow-on-the-Wold, Bunt Barn is a superbly located cottage to base yourselves when looking to explore the heart of the Cotswolds. Broadwell is home to The Fox Inn pub, great for a local pint and from time to time, used for the filming of Father Brown and there are plenty of walking and cycling routes from your doorstep. Enjoy a visit to nearby Daylesford Farm, The Cotswold Distillery or Batsford Arboretum during your stay for a taste of what the Cotswolds has to offer.

For your shopping essentials, there is a Tesco on the outskirts of Stow, just five minutes from the cottage.

The maximum occupancy for this property is 6 guests. Infants do not count towards the occupancy figure, however, due to space restrictions the occupancy can only be exceeded by 1 additional infant

The Stow Horse Fair is held twice a year, typically on the Thursday closest to 12th May and the Thursday closest to 24th October, however, we would recommend checking the exact date ahead of placing your booking. This is a traditional fair for gypsies and travelling people to meet up and trade which dates back to 1476 when its Charter was granted. Stow is very busy for a day or two before and after each fair, and a number of shops, pubs and restaurants are closed. Whilst many visitors enjoy the colour and vibrancy associated with the fairs, other visitors prefer to avoid Stow on these dates
Please note that if more than 3 cars are found to be parked at the property during your stay, charges may be deducted from your security deposit

Security Deposit

A security deposit of £250 is required for bookings at this property. This amount will be pre-authorised on your credit card 7 days prior to your arrival date, providing no damage is reported the pre-authorisation will be released 5 days after your departure. For the avoidance of doubt, guests are requested to leave the property in a reasonable condition, consistent with the property's appearance upon arrival.

We booked Bunt barn for a weekend getaway with our family at the end of October to celebrate our Ruby wedding anniversary. In our group there were six adults and our 15 months old grandson. We arrived on Friday 27th evening and were quite disturbed to find a lots of live and dead flies in two of the bedrooms, toilet, bathroom and the stairs. We have done so many cottage holidays in Cotswold area but never came across such a problem. We contacted Stewart (the contact given to us) and explained the problem but his response was asking us to keep the windows open and use the sprays provided . We were very disappointed by his total lack of care for the occupants. The reason they left fly sprays and fly swatters indicates that the property has a fly infestation. We also noticed that the owner was aware of the problem because he put a note in the guest book warning of the problem. It should not be on the guest book but on the website. Had we known this prior to the booking we would have never chosen that place. Also we didn't expect to clean up flies during our vacation. There were no mention of that in the booking information. We expect some kind of compensation/ partial refund, given the condition of the accommodation. I can provide the photo evidence to show the extent of the problem.

Thank you Kamala for your recent review of Bunt Barn. We would like to thank you for your feedback which is greatly appreciated and we have passed this onto the property owner. We are disappointed to hear about your experience with the flies at the property. These flies are called cluster flies and they appear year after year and live outside during the summer months in the fields but when the weather turns colder they seek warmth inside and live in roof voids. We are unable to notify any guests in advance of their stay about the flies as we do not know when they will appear, these are circumstances beyond our control. As a gesture of goodwill the owner has offered you some compensation for the inconvenience caused by the flies. We hope you will return to the Cotswolds soon.

Property is in a great little village location with a pub, green and ford. Walkable to Stow on the Wold and short drive to Bourton on the Water. Sadly, there were a lot of cobwebs around the property at height but also under chairs and tables which we had to deal with. Also suffered with significant bluebottle fly intrusion to second double bedroom and bathroom area (Early October 2023) and we were using fly spray and hoovering up around 100 dead flys every couple of hours during days. (Contacted the Property Manager who said it was a natural occurrence that was happening at other properties he looks after. Said he would call round next day but we did not see him or any note)
