Gassons View is a quintessential Cotswold stone cottage which sleeps eight guests, in four well-appointed bedrooms, with two family bathrooms. Throughout the cottage is a plethora of charming original features including a cosy open fireplace. These period features have been combined with a modern and airy kitchen complete with a skylight and bi-fold doors letting in ample natural light. Outside, the patio is a little suntrap, ideal for alfresco dining in the warmer months and relaxing with loved ones. Gassons View is located in the pretty countryside village of Filkins, an idyllic location for a countryside escape with one medium sized dog.

StayCotswold is a marketing agent and therefore does not own any of the cottages listed on our website. In terms of cleaning and maintenance, the properties within our portfolio are managed by a third party property manager or the property owner – your pre-arrival email will contain confirmation and contact details for the person managing your property. Bookings made via us form a legal agreement directly between you and the property owner.

For bookings commencing more than 8 weeks in advance, a 30% non-refundable deposit is required to confirm the booking. The balance payment is then due 8 weeks prior to arrival.

All payments are made subject to the cancellation policy set out in the standard Booking Conditions.

Location Information

Gassons View is a lovely dog friendly cottage situated in the quaint village of Filkins in the North Cotswolds. Filkins is home to a traditional community shop and the award winning village pub, The Five Alls, serving an array of delicious home-cooked freshly prepared food, cracking wines and real ale. The village is surrounded by open farmland and countryside, ideal for walking.

For your shopping essentials, there is a Co-op in Lechlade and several larger supermarkets in Brize Norton including a Morrisons.
Close by are the popular towns of Burford and Lechlade, both sporting numerous shops and restaurants. Other local attractions include The Cotswold Woollen Weavers', The Cotswold Wildlife Park, The Cotswold Water Park, Buscot Park and Kelmscott Manor. Enjoy plane spotting from the neighbouring RAF base Brize Norton, home to the RAF supporting UK overseas operations and exercises.

The maximum occupancy for this property is 8 guests. Infants do not count towards the occupancy figure, however, due to space restrictions the occupancy can only be exceeded by 1 additional infant (aged 2 or under)

On street parking is available on the road in front of the property
1 travel cot and 1 highchair are available on request (please bring your own linen for the travel cot, as this is not provided)

The smoke and CO detectors operate on a sound only basis and, therefore, those who have serious impairment of hearing may not be able to hear the alarm systems and could be at risk
No smoking or vaping is permitted throughout the property

Please note that Gassons View is best suited to peaceful, family-style stays. Please take consideration whilst booking as the property is not appropriate for parties, hen or stag groups, or events of any kind

Security Deposit/Accidental Damage Waiver

Bookings at this property require either a £250 Security Deposit or payment of a non-refundable Accidental Damage Waiver. Where you choose a Security Deposit and we have your payment card details on file (for your security, these details are tokenised), we have the right to charge an amount up to the value of the Security Deposit to your payment card up to seven days after your departure date. In some circumstances, we may require a pre-authorisation of the Security Deposit amount against your payment card seven days prior to your arrival date, which will be released seven days after your departure date, providing no damage is reported or excessive cleaning is required. You may choose to waive the requirement for a Security Deposit by paying for an Accidental Damage Waiver at checkout. This is a non-refundable payment that covers the cost of any accidental damage or breakages to the property or its contents, up to the value of the Security Deposit. For the avoidance of doubt, guests are requested to leave the property in a reasonable condition, consistent with the property's appearance upon arrival.

The house is in a beautiful village, very friendly locals, close by for everything we wanted to visit. The Five Alls pub is excellent for food.We found the house underwhelming, not what we saw on the pictures. Someone had commented in April about the bin being broken and it still is. We had our dog with us and a broken bin lid is not great, not to mention the smells. The oven door is taped together and I had to clean the grill and oven before I could use it. The gate to bins is rusted so you can't open it and have to take your rubbish out of the front door and down the lane.The house needs a good deep clean and the garden tending too. There is very little light in the lounge due to the overgrown hedges ect. We had to travel to the nearest village (Burford) for cleaning supplies, there is a village shop run by locals but only open a couple of hours a day. As check in was 5pm we missed it.The house has a very steep narrow set of stairs that isn't mentioned, luckily we only had to navigate one set of them to the first floor.The kitchen dining room is a lovely space and lots of natural light, would be better without cobwebs and the clean windows, there is a dining table and wooden chairs that can't be sat on for long periods, it's not the comfiest, the room could do with a small sofa or the chair that's on pictures in there, I found that room nicer to be in and not dark and gloomy like the lounge.We appreciate it's an old cottage and we embraced many of the quirks, we just felt it was tired and not what we were expecting so were instantly disappointed.We are seasoned holiday cottage renters as we only holiday in the UK but for us we wouldn't stay here again.

We had a lovely stay. The house has lots of character and is in a lovely village with shop and village pub. Some of the blinds didn't work and the bin didn't close, but those were minor points. We would recommend.

We had a great stay at Gassons view, it was in a great location perfect to get to lots of little villages close by. The house was perfect for 5 adults & our baby too. We could easily park outside the house each night even though there's not an driveway it didn't matter.
