This former school house has been renovated into a lovely light and bright Cotswold holiday apartment which sleeps two guests, in a welcoming mezzanine style bedroom, with ensuite bathroom. Laid out over two floors, there is a sociable open plan living area with ample seating and a well-equipped kitchen. The original stone mullion windows are a striking feature which flood both floors with natural light throughout the day. The Old School House is centrally located boasting both the Cotswold countryside and the bustling market town of Stow-on-the-Wold within easy reach. This combination of features makes for a wonderful getaway and even welcomes one dog!

This one bedroom holiday cottage in Stow-on-the-Wold is perfectly suited for a solo traveller or couple looking to explore the local countryside and eateries. The Cotswold holiday accommodation is laid out as follows:

StayCotswold is a marketing agent and therefore does not own any of the cottages listed on our website. In terms of cleaning and maintenance, the properties within our portfolio are managed by a third party property manager or the property owner – your pre-arrival email will contain confirmation and contact details for the person managing your property. Bookings made via us form a legal agreement directly between you and the property owner.

For bookings commencing more than 8 weeks in advance, a 30% non-refundable deposit is required to confirm the booking. The balance payment is then due 8 weeks prior to arrival.

All payments are made subject to the cancellation policy set out in the standard Booking Conditions.

Location Information

The Old School House is located on a quiet side street in the centre of Stow-on-the-Wold, one of the best loved Cotswold market towns. Steeped in history, the market square retains its old town stocks and medieval cross, and is overlooked by a number of pubs, shops, restaurants and tearooms.

For your shopping essentials, there is a mini Co-op in The Square, less than a minutes' walk away, or a Tesco Superstore located on the Fosse Way, less than one mile away.

The maximum occupancy for this property is 2 guests. Infants do not count towards the occupancy figure, however, due to space restrictions the occupancy can only be exceeded by 1 additional infant
Events are not permitted without prior consent
Check in is from 16:00 and check out is by 10:00
The Stow Horse Fair is held twice a year, typically on the Thursday closest to 12th May and the Thursday closest to 24th October, however, we would recommend checking the exact date ahead of placing your booking. This is a traditional fair for gypsies and travelling people to meet up and trade which dates back to 1476 when its Charter was granted. Stow is very busy for a day or two before and after each fair, and a number of shops, pubs and restaurants are closed. Whilst many visitors enjoy the colour and vibrancy associated with the fairs, other visitors prefer to avoid Stow on these dates

A lovely light filled, cosy apartment with everything you need to make your stay perfect! A lovely welcome package awaited us and there were even treats for our dog! The interior was well presented, comfortable and warm. Outside the parking space was useful, as was the grass area with seating. It's also only a short stroll to all that Stow has to offer but was very peaceful. Stow offers plenty of amenities, from shops and welcoming eateries to beautiful country walks. Tony was extremely helpful and attentive. We will definitely stay again when we return to Stow!

The Old School House is a beautiful property really close to the centre of Stow. The property is decorated lovely, the kitchen is very modern and the bathroom is great. There is lots of space for two, a comfortable bed, and lovely amenities. The owner is really helpful and welcoming - thank you for the treats too! Had a wonderful, relaxing time exploring a beautiful part of the country. Will be returning!

This is the second year that we have booked a property through StayCotswold and, the same as last year, I cannot praise it highly enough. Accommodation was absolutely spotless, very well furnished and equipped. Tony (the property manager) contacted me in advance with the instruction to contact him if anything was amiss (nothing was). He knew that it was my birthday over the weekend and he left a birthday card, a cake (with candles), a box of biscuits, a bottle of wine and four bottles of beer as well as a carton of milk. This was a lovely touch and much appreciated. Stow on the Wold is a great location from which to explore the Cotswolds, already had a look for where to stay next year but to be honest would be more than happy to return to "The Old School House".

Follow in Tolkein's footsteps with a visit to the yew tree flanked door at St Edward's Church in Stow-on-the-Wold, followed by a drink at The Bell Inn at Moreton-in Marsh. Both are thought to be an inspiration for features in his famous novels!
