Wood Cottage is a gorgeous detached cottage that sleeps two guests in one bedroom with a separate bathroom on the edge of the pretty Cotswold market town of Fairford, a short stroll to a selection of pubs and the market square for restaurants, shops, and Lynwood’s, the best barista in the Cotswolds! This delightful abode is the perfect romantic getaway, with an inviting living space and cosy log burner for the colder evenings, a quaint kitchen, and a charming bedroom, all decorated in beautiful country interiors. If that isn't enough, Wood Cottage is dog-friendly, with its own private garden at the front with patio areas, a summer house with garden seats, and a table, making it a beautiful sun trap in the summer months.

StayCotswold is a marketing agent and therefore does not own any of the cottages listed on our website. In terms of cleaning and maintenance, the properties within our portfolio are managed by a third party property manager or the property owner – your pre-arrival email will contain confirmation and contact details for the person managing your property. Bookings made via us form a legal agreement directly between you and the property owner.

For bookings commencing more than 8 weeks in advance, a 30% non-refundable deposit is required to confirm the booking. The balance payment is then due 8 weeks prior to arrival.

All payments are made subject to the cancellation policy set out in the standard Booking Conditions.

Location Information

Fairford sits on a pretty stretch of the River Coln and is famous for its parish church of St Mary’s, which is perhaps the finest ‘wool church’ in the country - being the only church with a complete set of 28 medieval stained glass windows telling the story of the Bible. Market towns of Lechlade and the Roman capital of the Cotswolds, Cirencester, are in easy striking distance.

Every Wednesday the market square is busy with a traditional market, and a continental market twice a year and a magical Christmas market on the first Friday of December.

For three days every year RAF Fairford hosts the world’s largest military air show – the Royal International Air Tattoo - book early as tickets sell out quickly.

The town and surrounding area is crisscrossed with many footpaths, to enjoy lovely walks in the Cotswold countryside and to explore the nearby Cotswold water park lakes. The nearby villages of Eastleach, Bibury, Hatherop, Quenington, Coln St.Aldwyns and a wealth of other beautiful Cotswold villages offering wonderful scenery and fantastic pubs and restaurants, all within a short walk, cycle or drive.

The maximum occupancy for this property is 2 guests. Infants do not count towards the occupancy figure, however, due to space restrictions the occupancy can only be exceeded by 1 additional infant (aged 2 or under)

Security Deposit/Accidental Damage Waiver

Bookings at this property require either a £150 Security Deposit or payment of a non-refundable Accidental Damage Waiver. Where you choose a Security Deposit and we have your payment card details on file (for your security, these details are tokenised), we have the right to charge an amount up to the value of the Security Deposit to your payment card up to seven days after your departure date. In some circumstances, we may require a pre-authorisation of the Security Deposit amount against your payment card seven days prior to your arrival date, which will be released seven days after your departure date, providing no damage is reported or excessive cleaning is required. You may choose to waive the requirement for a Security Deposit by paying for an Accidental Damage Waiver at checkout. This is a non-refundable payment that covers the cost of any accidental damage or breakages to the property or its contents, up to the value of the Security Deposit. For the avoidance of doubt, guests are requested to leave the property in a reasonable condition, consistent with the property's appearance upon arrival.

We had a family celebration for a birthday and Wood Cottage was ideal location for 2 relatives (and their dog) to stay over for the weekend. The cottage was in excellent condition, very close by to our home and offered very good facilities for their stay.

Very cosy and comfortable cottage for two and a dog. Good enclosed garden for the dog (beware there is a low wall behind the shrubs and some dogs may be inclined to jump it!). Excellent village location with food store, chemist, pubs, takeaways and dog walks. Convient for exploring the Cotswolds, Wiltshire, Berkshire and further afield.Would highly recommend Wood Cottage and Stay Cotswold.

This is our second stay at wood cottage. The cottage is so comfortable and cosy, in a great location with lovely walks locally. The cottage is extremely clean and very well maintained, a complete home from home. We love the cosy living room and the kitchen is well equipped. Parking is on the street outside the cottage, and although its not a dedicated space, we had no problem parking. There's everything you need in the village; pubs, coffee shops, butchers, coop and budgens as well as some lovely gift shops. Nothing is too far of a drive in the cotswolds. We would definitely recommend this cottage for anyone looking for a cosy stay and a bonus it being dog friendly too!
