Located in a secluded valley close to the classic Cotswold town of Stow-on-the-Wold, Old Brewery House is a terrific Cotswold retreat with a real difference. Old Brewery House is located within the grounds of the Donnington brewery (hence the name!) which in 1827 was bought as a working mill by Thomas Arkell, his descendant Richard Arkell founded the Brewery here in 1865. Inside much of the original charm and character has been retained and many of the rooms enjoy stunning views across the private lake and gardens. The open-plan kitchen/dining room is well equipped and there are 2 living rooms, so plenty of space! The 4 en-suite bedrooms can be configured into doubles or twins depending on your requirements which makes this property flexible for all parties. Oh, and the beer produced is of course available to purchase from Andy, the onsite manager!

We had a very enjoyable stay. One or two problems at the beginning, but these were sorted out by Andy, quite satisfactorily. One criticism is that the bath on the top floor could do with a hand held shower within the bath, as this would make rinsing the bath easier and also would be useful for when washing hair!

“We had a fantastic time staying at The Old Brewery. We were a group of 7 adults and a toddler. The bedrooms are all big and clean, and the communal spaces were great. We struggled a bit with the oven but none of us had used an aga before. Other than that, everything was straight forward with great communication from the host. Would recommend for large groups.”

We stayed here with a bunch of NCT friends and babies for a weekend early July and could not have wished for a more lovely setting. We barbecued and played in the garden, played cards in the living room, had brunch all together in the large kitchen and walked around the beautiful surroundings to see the brewery, the peacocks on the lawn and the geese on the pond.
We were very pleased with our choice and would recommend it to any group looking for a charming getaway in the Cotswolds.

“We booked this house at the last minute after an apartment booked through a different site was not up to scratch (we took one look and left that one on the night we arrived.) The house is in a wonderful location - secluded and tranquil heat just a few minutes drive from a decent sized town with plenty of amenities. Everything about the house was very well designed, explained (where needed), very clean and comfortable. I would use this as a base for a quick break or longer vacation in the Cotswolds without any hesitation. Thanks again for enabling us to have a great weekend in the Cotswolds. We really appreciate the quick responses and easy process, and the house itself and location were perfect!”

Our party of 8 ( 4 couples) celebrated my sons 30th birthday and Easter weekend at The Brewery, we had a magical visit....The Brewery is even prettier in person than in photos...it is an Idyll, a fairytale spot with a river, croquet lawn & ducks & swans all going to greet you...as well as cows in the field next store...The 4 bedrooms rooms are all large (super kings) that can be unzipped for singles if needed....with pretty modern bathrooms...the beds comfortable and lots of linens and duvets to cosy up in.....The kitchen is so well equipped and there is an outdoor bbq...the living rooms and smaller den (our guys dubbed the " man cave) are so well done ( there is a fire place in the living room which works beautifully) There are gorgeous country walks, quiet and a fabulous real brewery right next door...we never heard any noise.....If there house were for sale, I want to get it....we ALL said we'd be back...we had a terrific time.....blissful...I recommend highly!

Stunning location...a perfect house for 2 families or 4 couples....even prettier in person than in the pictures.....gorgeous location, comfy house....4 bathrooms...we loved it! The Brewery is stunning...everything we could have hoped for in location, beds/baths - outdoors, games, the river the surrounding towns and things to do & see. The local walks were just fabulous!....outstanding on all fronts.

Fantastic ,comfortable, spacious setting to relax for the weekend. We met up with 8 friends for a weekend of walking and social. We had a fab time! The facilities in the house were great , and we mastered the electric Aga (type) cooker. Bedrooms were spacious and a king size bed. Kitchen large enough to dine for 8 adults. The grounds are set by a lake and running stream with garden furniture to enjoy the sunshine. This would be a great place to have a family celebration or gathering. I know some of the party are already planning a return visit . Clear sky at night and low light pollution opens up the sky at night. Oh yes , if you like beer there is the Donnington brewery on site 😉🍺

8 of us had such a lovely stay celebrating 25 years since we all met! Andy the manager really looked after us, and made us feel that nothing was too much trouble. The photos do not do the house or location justice! Perfect place for 4 couples to share as all the bedrooms are lovely, and have their own bathroom.

Brilliant stay at Old Brewery House! Lovely spacious house, great for our group of 4 couples and a young baby. Bedrooms are all huge and the whole house was spotless! The photos on the listing don’t do it justice! Rooms are enormous! We would love to stay again, thank you for having us!

We had the best stay! One of the most gorgeous unique properties I've ever stayed at. The house is secluded on acres of land with the house connected to the brewery (closed on weekends). This allowed for tons of privacy and nature outside your doorstep

We stayed in Old Brewery House and had a lovely time. The house is very spacious and beautifully presented. The furnishings are clean and comfortable. The kitchen is very well stocked with ample crockery and utensils. There’s plenty of hot water and heating when required. The house stands in fantastic grounds with a small river in the garden. There’s a lake to the side with masses of ducks, geese and swans to watch. It was wonderful. I would definitely recommend this property.
