Tucked away in the rural village of Shellingford, Goodlake Barns is made up of five well equipped holiday cottages, sleeping up to 28 guests with an additional space, The Hub, which is an enclosed barn, complete with tables and chairs which enables you to all dine together or host a celebration. Each barn, accessible via a central courtyard, has a fully equipped kitchen, sitting room, Smart TVs and Wi-Fi. In front of the barns is a paddock, giving you and your guests plenty of outdoor space.
This 14 bedroom holiday accommodation is perfectly set up for those large family gatherings and celebrations and is well located to explore the local market town of Faringdon and beyond. The accommodation is laid out as follows:

The Hub (Seats 28)
With direct access from The Barn kitchen and the courtyard, The Hub comes equipped with air conditioning, large TV, tables and chairs to seat 28 guests, cloakroom, small utility.

  • Off street parking is available for up to 6 cars in the courtyard with additional overflow parking for 6-8 cars
  • 3 travel cots and 3 highchairs are available on request (please bring your own linen for the travel cot, as this is not provided)

  • The smoke and CO detectors operate on a sound only basis and, therefore, those who have serious impairment of hearing may not be able to hear the alarm systems and could be at risk
  • No smoking or vaping is permitted throughout the property

  • The maximum occupancy for this property is 28 guests. Infants do not count towards the occupancy figure, however, the occupancy can only be exceeded by 7 additional infants
  • Hen and Stag groups are not permitted and single sex parties on request
  • Commercial and work related bookings on request
  • Events are not permitted without prior consent
  • A security deposit is required at this property
  • Check in is from 17:00 and check out is by 10:00
Security Deposit

A security deposit of £500 is required for bookings at this property. This amount will be pre-authorised on your credit card 7 days prior to your arrival date, providing no damage is reported the pre-authorisation will be released 5 days after your departure. For the avoidance of doubt, guests are requested to leave the property in a reasonable condition, consistent with the property's appearance upon arrival.

Booking & Payment

StayCotswold is a marketing agent and therefore does not own any of the cottages listed on our website. In terms of cleaning and maintenance, the properties within our portfolio are managed by a third party property manager or the property owner – your pre-arrival email will contain confirmation and contact details for the person managing your property. Bookings made via us form a legal agreement directly between you and the property owner.

For bookings commencing more than 8 weeks in advance, a 30% non-refundable deposit is required to confirm the booking. The balance payment is then due 8 weeks prior to arrival.

All payments are made subject to the cancellation policy set out in the standard Booking Conditions.

Location Information

Goodlake barns is nestled in the heart of Shellingford, a small village surrounded by countryside just three miles from Faringdon where you will find a charming market town which hosts a weekly Saturday Farmers' Market. If you fancy exploring a local pub on foot, head to The Woodmans Arms, Fernham for a pint of real ale or freshly prepared seasonal dish.
For your shopping essentials, there is a local Co-op two miles away in Stanford in the Vale or a good selection of supermarkets in Faringdon.


Goodlake is the place to spend a long weekend with family (who you like!) Great atmosphere , everything spotless, tidy and welcoming with chocolates in every house ( small request for me would have loved fairtrade), heat on everywhere so very cosy, and easy to find everything oh and no shortage of toilet rolls which was brilliant! Everyone loved their accommodation and rightly so, and the superking beds were very welcomed! We had a couple of things to sort out on the Saturday, a few niggles like dishwasher clogged in one house, wheel on shower door off so not closing properly and a couple of small things but Simon the on-call maintenance man came round very promptly and fixed all the issues, was very amenable, friendly and helpful which was great. The only thing missing which we all needed was dishwasher salt and rinse aid, that's one thing we didn't take with us! So please put these in all houses. Well we couldn't have had a better place to celebrate a big 70th, thank you

This was the perfect venue to celebrate a 60th Birthday with family. Accomodation was immaculate and spacious. Everything we needed was provided on site. The party room was perfect for our event and the huge paddock area was ideal for the children. We booked the whole venue and had the most fantastic time.
The barns have spacious living areas and are well furnished. The outdoor seating provided and BBQ are very good. Plenty of parking and the barns are situated in lovely quiet village.
