Originally built in the early 19th century, Heath Cottage is an elegantly presented, grade II listed holiday home which sleeps six guests, in three well appointed bedrooms, with a family bathroom and shower room. On the ground floor and at the heart of the cottage is a warm and inviting sitting room, featuring a large inglenook fireplace with a cosy wood burning stove, perfect for those wintry evenings in. This spacious Cotswold stone cottage beautifully combines traditional character with contemporary style, with original oak beams, stunning exposed Cotswold stone and flagstone flooring. Recently, a downstairs shower room, utility room and kitchen/diner have been renovated in keeping with the warm, contemporary style. Outside, this wonderful property has a tranquil courtyard garden, which bathes in the late afternoon sun, making this a great spot for enjoying home cooked meals in the summer sunshine. Heath Cottage is a dog friendly holiday cottage, suitable for one medium sized dog!

StayCotswold is a marketing agent and therefore does not own any of the cottages listed on our website. In terms of cleaning and maintenance, the properties within our portfolio are managed by a third party property manager or the property owner – your pre-arrival email will contain confirmation and contact details for the person managing your property. Bookings made via us form a legal agreement directly between you and the property owner.

For bookings commencing more than 8 weeks in advance, a 30% non-refundable deposit is required to confirm the booking. The balance payment is then due 8 weeks prior to arrival.

All payments are made subject to the cancellation policy set out in the standard Booking Conditions.

Location Information

Heath Cottage is located close to the heart of the bustling market town of Stow-on-the-Wold, a beautiful town steeped in character and history. The town benefits from having a variety of well-regarded country inns, eateries and boutique shops just moments from the doorstep! Why not enjoy a delicious meal at The Old Butchers, The Old Stocks Inn or Alexiou's restaurant & bar. For hearty breakfast we suggest The Hive, or a coffee from Coach House Coffee.

For your shopping essentials, there is a mini Co-op in The Square, less than a minutes' walk away, or a Tesco Superstore located on the Fosse Way, less than one mile away.
Stow-on-the-Wold is ideally situated in the North Cotswolds, perfect for exploring the surrounding countryside and nearby towns and villages such as Burford, Moreton-in-Marsh, Bourton-on-the-Water and Broadway.

The maximum occupancy for this property is 6 guests. Infants do not count towards the occupancy figure, however, due to space restrictions the occupancy can only be exceeded by 1 additional infant (aged 2 or under)

1 travel cot is available on request (please bring your own linen for the travel cot, as this is not provided). The master bedroom, on the first floor, is the most suitable for a cot, however please note that it is not a particularly large room

This property is laid out over three floors and guests with young children should note that the property has steep staircases, particularly up to the second floor, and the front door opens directly onto the road outside. There are also low ceilings throughout and low beams on the stairs up to the second floor, which could make it difficult to carry an infant up the stairs. Consequently, guests with young children and infants should carefully assess if the property is suitable for them
Please note Heath Cottage is located on Wraggs Row, a small lane that runs parallel to the A429 (Fosse Way), just off Back Walls
The smoke and CO detectors operate on a sound only basis and, therefore, those who have serious impairment of hearing may not be able to hear the alarm systems and could be at risk
No smoking or vaping is permitted throughout the property

Please note that Heath Cottage is best suited to peaceful, family-style stays. Please take consideration whilst booking as the property is not appropriate for parties, hen or stag groups, or events of any kind
A security deposit is required at this property
Check in is from 16:00 and check out is by 10:00
The Stow Horse Fair is held twice a year, typically on the Thursday closest to 12th May and the Thursday closest to 24th October, however, we would recommend checking the exact date ahead of placing your booking. This is a traditional fair for gypsies and travelling people to meet up and trade which dates back to 1476 when its Charter was granted. Stow is very busy for a day or two before and after each fair, and a number of shops, pubs and restaurants are closed. Whilst many visitors enjoy the colour and vibrancy associated with the fairs, other visitors prefer to avoid Stow on these dates

Security Deposit/Accidental Damage Waiver

Bookings at this property require either a £250 Security Deposit or payment of a non-refundable Accidental Damage Waiver. Where you choose a Security Deposit and we have your payment card details on file (for your security, these details are tokenised), we have the right to charge an amount up to the value of the Security Deposit to your payment card up to seven days after your departure date. In some circumstances, we may require a pre-authorisation of the Security Deposit amount against your payment card seven days prior to your arrival date, which will be released seven days after your departure date, providing no damage is reported or excessive cleaning is required. You may choose to waive the requirement for a Security Deposit by paying for an Accidental Damage Waiver at checkout. This is a non-refundable payment that covers the cost of any accidental damage or breakages to the property or its contents, up to the value of the Security Deposit. For the avoidance of doubt, guests are requested to leave the property in a reasonable condition, consistent with the property's appearance upon arrival.

Cottage was beautiful, very charming with a lot of character and super location just seconds from buzzy Stow! Highlights are the beautiful fire and cosy living room, powerful shower and a bath. The hosts were exceptionally facilitative allowing us early check in and late check out - massively appreciated as we were staying with our two young children. The only negatives are that the cottage is tired in places and the cleaning regime could be improved.

Lovely old cottage with all the quirks you expect from an old property. Kitchen is well equipped and there is plenty of space for six to eat round the table comfortably. Living room is very comfortable with the fireplace making it cozy in winter. Bedrooms are comfortable but be warned do have low ceilings and beams, but that's to be expected in a property of that age. Towels and linen are of high quality. Having a parking space is a great addition as the parking on the side road and out front can become very busy. The property is on a busy road and I was concerned by some reviews referring to this. The road did not bother us and we had the windows shut given the time of year but can understand the comments if in summer when windows need to be open. The house is generally clean on arrival but we did notice a few issues which we have reported back to the property manager. The house could do with a deep clean focusing on the areas not covered in a normal turn around clean. The property could also do with a repaint and general freshening up and the replacement of some items warn out, like glasses, mats etc. A good tidy of the garden and renewal of the lock on the gate is needed as we had to adjust the lock to ensure our dog did not get out. These items we noticed have been fed back to the property management and agency and acknowledged. Stay Cotswolds have been great to deal with and easy to reach even over the Christmas period. Overall we had a great stay and the property is ideally placed for all the areas of interest and within walking distance of all the amenities in Stow itself. We would recommend the property for a stay but feel the refresh and upgrades are required to continue to charge the premium rates currently expected.

We enjoyed our weeks stay at Heath Cottage. Very clean, comfortable and the location was perfect for walking into Stow and exploring the neighbouring towns and villages. Lovely little enclosed garden which was ideal as we had a dog with us and also appreciated the reserved car space behind the property. My only criticism which isn't really anything to do with the cottage but did affect our stay was the constant noise from the traffic 24/7 seven days a week from the busy road that runs past the cottage. This was stated in the description but I didn't realise what a busy road it would be all day long.

We enjoyed our weeks stay at Heath Cottage. Very clean, comfortable and the location was perfect for walking into Stow and exploring the neighbouring towns and villages.
