We stayed for 5 nights recently to celebrate my husband's 60th Birthday! The cottage size was perfect for 11 of us and our dogs. The gardens are absolutely lovely and our granddaughter loved all the swings, trampoline and little summer house. The location was perfect, we visited Adam Henson's farm which is 10 minutes away and then Blenheim Palace the next for the Peter Rabbit experience, a 30 minute drive. We had dinner twice in the Hollow Bottom pub in the village, the food and service was excellent. One other pub the food and service not as good. The post office cafe was also fantastic! Very accommodating and amazing breakfast and pastries. We had an amazing meal and private dining at The Wild Rabbit which was amazing! Our slight disappointment was it does need an improvement on the cleaning....the towels yes are small (like other reviews) and we actually drove to Primark to buy some for the girls and granddaughters. We also bought a couple of throws for the sofa in the kitchen. It was nice to have a small welcome pack on arrival which other reviews suggested. Apart from that.....We absolutely loved out stay xxx

Thank you for the lovely review Michelle. We're pleased that your family enjoyed a special stay at Laurel Tree Cottage for your husband's 60th - a big happy birthday from us! We also appreciate your feedback which we will pass onto the property manager and housekeeping team. Overall it's great that you had a wonderful stay and we hope to welcome you back again soon.

The cottage is absolutely beautiful inside and out but strangely it lacks essentials. The owner has a policy to provide essentials such as toilet roll/ dishwasher tablets for the first day of your booking which means you need to go shopping or bring them with you (that's if you know that is the policy which is not stated in any of the information provided) I have never stayed in a rental that has this policy. There are absolutely no basics in the kitchen not a grain of salt/ pepper/ sugar nor a drop of oil, again not something I have ever experienced. The BBQ is a joke and totally unusable for a house that accommodates 9+ people therefore in the summer you only have a 2-ring hob and oven to cook on as the aga is switched off which I wouldn't ask to put on because I would have expected better cooking facilities. The towels provided are very small and threadbare! All board games were removed I imagine because of COVID but this is not necessary anymore. Overall these small but very frustrating issues really irritated me and for the cost of the property really let it down and spoilt the experience. It feels like the house was closed down during COVID and nobody has cared to go in and set the house up for guests. Customer service was helpful and responded when I contacted them and provided more toilet roll and dishwasher products but were unable to help with the other issues.

Thank you for your feedback Sinead. We appreciate you taking the time to bring the other items to our attention, and we are sorry that everything was not as you had expected. We will forward for feedback to the owner and property manager for their attention. The property listing is accurate in saying that there is an electric oven with two-ring induction hob, a microwave and an aga which will be lit during the summer months if requested. The towels are bath size and bbq is a standard size and there is also a fire ball which can be used for outdoor cooking We apologise that the board games and books are still listed; in common with many cottages these items and kitchen condiments have been removed while Covid is still prevalent and the number of cases rising. Also typical of other self-catering cottages, a starter supply of household supplies is provided for guests to use while they settle in. We are pleased to hear that the property manager was able to provide further supplies when asked and that overall, you were happy with the customer service. From your scoring to is great to see that you were very satisfied with the cleanliness, customer service, condition and location of Laurel Tree Cottage and its lovely to hear that you thought the property beautiful.
