Smuggsbarn Cottage is a beautifully styled Grade II listed Cotswold holiday cottage which sleeps 6+2 guests, in three comfortable bedrooms, with the +2 option being a double sofa bed in the snug, with two contemporary bathrooms. This cottage has been tastefully renovated to blend the charming late 18th century original features of the English beech wooden beams and striking Cotswold stone inglenook fireplace, with modern decor and amenities. With ample living space downstairs, including the cosy snug and abundant storage in both the kitchen and the boot room, Smuggsbarn Cottage is a real home away from home with plenty of space for the whole group to relax. Every detail has been thoughtfully considered, down to a dog showering area for those muddy walks, creating a wonderful property for groups to escape to the country with your four legged friend!

StayCotswold is a marketing agent and therefore does not own any of the cottages listed on our website. In terms of cleaning and maintenance, the properties within our portfolio are managed by a third party property manager or the property owner – your pre-arrival email will contain confirmation and contact details for the person managing your property. Bookings made via us form a legal agreement directly between you and the property owner.

For bookings commencing more than 8 weeks in advance, a 30% non-refundable deposit is required to confirm the booking. The balance payment is then due 8 weeks prior to arrival.

All payments are made subject to the cancellation policy set out in the standard Booking Conditions.

Location Information

With much of Chedworth being deemed a conservation area, many of the houses are traditional Cotswold stone cottage style homes, allowing the village to retain its charm. This chocolate box style village benefits from a friendly pub, The Seven Tuns Inn, offering a delicious menu. The village is located on the steep side of a valley along the tributary of the River Coln. This wonderful location makes Chedworth ideal for those wanting to explore the countryside with multiple footpaths in and around the area including the Macmillan Way and the Monarch's Way. One of our favourites is a snippet of the Macmillan Way to the nearby Chedworth Roman Villa, managed by the National Trust, then heading on through Chedworth woods before returning back to the village.
For your shopping essentials, there is a Waitrose in Cirencester. Most larger supermarkets do offer delivery to this area.
Chedworth sits in South Cotswolds, just eight miles from Cirencester and 11 miles from Cheltenham. The much-loved towns of Stroud, Northleach and Withington are also within easy reach. As are the popular attractions of Cerney House, Sherbourne Park Estate and the village of Bibury.

  • Off street parking is available for up to 2 cars, additional parking is available at the village hall a short walk away
  • 1 travel cot, 1 highchair, 1 toddler Tripp Trapp chair and 2 stair gates are available on request (please bring your own linen for the travel cot, as this is not provided)

  • Please note that the principal bedroom can be accessed directly from the sitting room, with no door separating the spaces (these stairs are especially steep, though a bannister on one side is provided)
  • The smoke and CO detectors operate on a sound only basis and, therefore, those who have serious impairment of hearing may not be able to hear the alarm systems and could be at risk
  • No smoking or vaping is permitted throughout the property
Things to Note...
  • The maximum occupancy for this property is 8 guests. Infants do not count towards the occupancy figure, however, due to space restrictions the occupancy can only be exceeded by 3 additional infants
  • Hen and Stag parties are not permitted, though other same sex groups can enquire
  • Events are not permitted without prior consent
  • A security deposit is required at this property
  • Check in is from 17:00 and check out is by 10:00
  • Please be aware that there are 3 CCTV cameras at the property (these do not point inside the house, however they do cover the garden)
Security Deposit

A security deposit of £250 is required for bookings at this property. This amount will be pre-authorised on your credit card 7 days prior to your arrival date, providing no damage is reported the pre-authorisation will be released 5 days after your departure. For the avoidance of doubt, guests are requested to leave the property in a reasonable condition, consistent with the property's appearance upon arrival.
