The Roost is a Grade II listed, fabulous refurbished Cotswold holiday cottage which sleeps four guests in two well-appointed and uniquely designed bedrooms and one spacious bathroom with a roll top bath. The ground floor has a semi open plan design with a contemporary feel to the kitchen/dining room, a lovely space to cook your favourite culinary dishes. The cosy and comfy sitting room boasts plenty of character features to include a wood burning stove, exposed stonework and original beams, the perfect space for relaxing in. The Roost has a picturesque, hidden gem of a garden boasting plenty of outdoor seating, a fire pit and lovely rural views, a space to enjoy all year round. The Roost is also a dog friendly holiday home, suitable for one medium dog or two small dogs.

Booking & Payment

StayCotswold is a marketing agent and therefore does not own any of the cottages listed on our website. In terms of cleaning and maintenance, the properties within our portfolio are managed by a third party property manager or the property owner – your pre-arrival email will contain confirmation and contact details for the person managing your property. Bookings made via us form a legal agreement directly between you and the property owner.

For bookings commencing more than 8 weeks in advance, a 30% non-refundable deposit is required to confirm the booking. The balance payment is then due 8 weeks prior to arrival.

All payments are made subject to the cancellation policy set out in the standard Booking Conditions.

Location Information

The Roost is situated in the picturesque village of Coln St Aldwyns which is nestled in the beautiful Coln River Valley and surrounded by unspoilt countryside. The village boasts a church with Norman origins dating back to the 13th century and the Café Coln which is located in the heart of the village offering fresh coffee, award-winning food and a beautiful garden, it's a great place to relax and unwind and it's also the home of the local shop and post office.The New Inn, a few minutes stroll away is a 16th-century coaching inn with a cosy inviting atmosphere, open fires and serves a locally sourced menu.

Coln St Aldwyns sits in the heart of the Cotswolds and is well-placed for visiting the honeypot destinations of Fairford, Burford, Bourton-on-the-Water, Tetbury and Painswick, as well as further afield destinations such as Oxford and Cheltenham.
Bibury is a short 2 mile drive away and renowned for its scenic streets and waterways. This charming village is home to Arlington Row, a row of weavers' cottages that is probably the most photographed Cotswold scene - the Row was even used as a location in the 2007 film 'Stardust'.There are many beautiful walks in and around this sleepy corner of the Cotswolds to include The River Coln Loop and The Arlington Row and Bibury Loop.

For your shopping essentials, there is a small village shop in Coln St Aldwyns and larger supermarkets, including Waitrose, Aldi and Tesco, in Cirencester.

  • The maximum occupancy for this property is 4 guests. Infants do not count towards the occupancy figure, however, due to space restrictions the occupancy can only be exceeded by 1 additional infant (aged 2 or under) 
  • Bed linen and towels are provided (duvets and pillows are feathered)
  • Free on-street parking
  • 1 travel cot and 1 highchair are available on request (please bring your own linen for the travel cot, as this is not provided)

  • Please note that the enclosed private garden is accessed via a shared terrace space (with neighbouring cottages) and then a private pathway

  • Starter supply of wood provided for the wood burning stoves from October to April only
  • Stairs are narrow with a turn and there are sloping ceilings upstairs
  • The smoke and CO detectors operate on a sound only basis and, therefore, those who have serious impairment of hearing may not be able to hear the alarm systems and could be at risk
  • No smoking or vaping is permitted throughout the property

  • Events are not permitted without prior consent
  • A security deposit is required at this property
  • Check in is from 16:00 and check out is by 10:00
  • The Roost has a lovely garden for guests to enjoy and it is important to the owners that guests are courteous and considerate towards the neighbouring properties. We politely request that guests do not disturb the neighbours and that loud music is not played outside after 21:00
  • Charging electric vehicles at this property is not permitted
Security Deposit

A security deposit of £150 is required for bookings at this property. We reserve the right to charge an amount up to the value of the security deposit to your payment card up to 7 days after your departure date. In some circumstances, we may require a pre-authorisation of the security deposit amount against your payment card 7 days prior to your arrival date, which will be released 7 days after your departure date, providing no damage is reported or excessive cleaning is required. For the avoidance of doubt, guests are requested to leave the property in a reasonable condition, consistent with the property's appearance upon arrival.

Cirencester is a bustling medieval market town and well worth a visit. It's beautiful church takes prime position in the market square and is surrounded by an array of boutique shops and eateries
