Combining elements of squash and tennis, padel is an increasingly popular racquet sport that the whole family can enjoy. As the game is easy to learn and incredibly fun, it’s a fantastic activity to incorporate into a family holiday when visiting the Cotswolds. Due to the increased demand, there’s now a handful of padel courts throughout the Cotswolds available to book for some sporting fun and light-hearted competition during your stay. Let’s take a look at where to play padel tennis in the Cotswolds.

Where to Play Padel in the Cotswolds

Padel – Elkstone

Located at Elkstone Studios, just 15 minutes drive north of Cirencester, Padel Shift has built an idyllic base for padel enthusiasts. Players will find two outdoor courts with an artificial grass surface available to book in hour slots. There are plenty of additional facilities to enjoy at Elkstone Studios, including a café and shops to explore.

Set within the beautiful Gloucestershire countryside, you can enjoy the rolling rural landscapes of the Cotswolds while you play. Coaching sessions are also available and are easy to book online via the Padel Shift website.

Cotswold Padel Club

Building the first indoor Padel courts in the Cotswolds, the Cotswold Padel Club is based at Far Peak, just outside Northleach. Similar to Elkstone, Far Peak is an outstanding rural hub offering multiple activities and refreshment options alongside the Cotswold Padel Club courts.

When visiting, you can take advantage of the ‘pay and play’ options on offer. Prices range from £40 for 60 minutes to £60 for a 90 minute session. All the equipment you need is also available to hire, just ask at reception when you arrive. As these Cotswold padel tennis courts are based inside, the location is perfect for enjoying the racquet sport all year round.

Padel Shift Daylesford

Another Padel Shift location is based at Daylesford Organic near Kingham and Stow-on-the-Wold. You’ll find the courts within the grounds of the Bamford Club. Although the club is for members only, the padel courts are available to the public. Book online via the Padel Shift website; just ensure you avoid the time slots that are reserved for members. Prices for an hour slot are £30 and private coaches are also available to help if you wish to hone your skills.

Keeping active and participating in a group sport is a great way to enjoy yourself with family and friends when holidaying in the Cotswolds, and this particular location provides a beautiful setting to do just that. After you’ve burnt some energy on the court, take a wander around the incredible farm shop and homewares at Daylesford. You’ll be sure to find yourself a delicious post-padel snack.

The Padel Club at Gloucester Quays

On the outskirts of Gloucester, just a short drive from Cheltenham and Stroud is The Padel Club at Gloucester Quays. Built for high performance and lit by sports LED lighting, The Padel Club at Gloucester Quays has 9 high specification courts for all year-round padel play. Uniquely, the club is also dog friendly, welcoming well-behaved dogs to watch their owners play.

The social space also includes spectator seating, restaurant and a bar for plays to relax and socialise in. Why not take a wander around the Quays to shop for some bargains or grab a bite to eat.

No doubt the number of Cotswold padel tennis court locations will continue to grow alongside the ever-growing popularity, but as you can see, there’s already an outstanding group of locations to choose from and the game is a great addition to your Cotswold holiday itinerary.
