Located down a quiet country lane on the outskirts of Bourton-on-the-Water, it provides a peaceful base for a family or group getaway. The ground floor includes a practical kitchen, a sitting/dining area with a wood-burning stove, and French doors leading to the patio. The garden features climbing roses, established borders, a pergola with grapevines, and a summer house, a relaxed space to enjoy some al fresco dining.

In terms of cleaning and maintenance, the properties within our portfolio are managed by a third party property manager or the property owner – your pre-arrival email will contain confirmation and contact details for the person managing your property. Bookings made via us form a legal agreement directly between you and the property owner.

For bookings commencing more than 8 weeks in advance, a 30% non-refundable deposit is required to confirm the booking. The balance payment is then due 8 weeks prior to arrival.

All payments are made subject to the cancellation policy set out in the standard Booking Conditions.

Location Information

Burghfield Cottage is surrounded by fields and located on the outskirts of the bustling village of Bourton-on-the-Water. With a footpath through the neighbouring coppice taking you into the chocolate box village, where you will find unique shops, tea-rooms and restaurants, we particularly recommend Smith’s of Bourton, The Rose Tree, and The Dial House. For local activities, there are plenty of places to visit, such as Birdland, Cotswold Wildlife Park, Hawkstone Brewery, and Chedworth Roman Villa, to name a few!

For your shopping essentials, there is a Co-op in town and a Tesco’s on the outskirts of Stow-on-the-Wold.

The Finer Details

The maximum occupancy for this property is 10 guests. Infants do not count towards the occupancy figure, however, due to space restrictions the occupancy can only be exceeded by 1 additional infant (aged 2 and under)

1 travel cot, 1 highchair (minus harness) are available on request (please bring your own linen for the travel cot, as this is not provided)

There is a Saniflow toilet on the ground floor, however, these systems are weak and are prone to malfunction if misused (only suitable for light use and toilet paper)
As there is no ground floor bathroom, the property is not suitable for guests with limited mobility due to a lack of facilities on the ground floor
The smoke and CO detectors operate on a sound only basis and, therefore, those who have serious impairment of hearing may not be able to hear the alarm systems and could be at risk
No smoking or vaping is permitted throughout the property

Please note that Burghfield Cottage is best suited to peaceful, family-style stays. Please take consideration whilst booking as the property is not appropriate for parties, hen or stag groups, or events of any kind
A security deposit is required at this property
Check in is from 17:00 and check out is by 10:00
The garden is regularly maintained by a professional gardening service and although this work is generally carried out when the property is vacant, the gardener may need to carry out work whilst the property is occupied. If you require further information, please don’t hesitate to contact us
Charging electric vehicles at this property is not permitted

Security Deposit/Accidental Damage Waiver

Bookings at this property require either a £300 Security Deposit or payment of a non-refundable Accidental Damage Waiver. Where you choose a Security Deposit and we have your payment card details on file (for your security, these details are tokenised), we have the right to charge an amount up to the value of the Security Deposit to your payment card up to seven days after your departure date. In some circumstances, we may require a pre-authorisation of the Security Deposit amount against your payment card seven days prior to your arrival date, which will be released seven days after your departure date, providing no damage is reported or excessive cleaning is required. You may choose to waive the requirement for a Security Deposit by paying for an Accidental Damage Waiver at checkout. This is a non-refundable payment that covers the cost of any accidental damage or breakages to the property or its contents, up to the value of the Security Deposit. For the avoidance of doubt, guests are requested to leave the property in a reasonable condition, consistent with the property's appearance upon arrival.

It was my wife's 60th birthday so we went away with our 2 daughters and their husbands and 3 grandchildren. We had a lovely time and the grandkids (4 3 & 2 year old ) had a ball, loving the open spaces. We did, initially have trouble locating the property. Once on Cemetary lane it is quite difficult to find, the sign was old and not very visible. (I suggest a new, bigger one)Also in the bedroom with 2 single beds, there were several Ladybirds,Overall, a lovely property and a good time had by all.

We had a super stay at Burghfield House. The house is so very spacious, pleny of room for grandchildren and grandparents to do their thing. The kitchen is remarkably well equipped and two fridges which was helpful. The beds are very comfortable and the duvets and linens soft and snuggly. Zoe was very helpful with our enquiries. The location of the house is great, on the edge of Bourton next to beautiful countryside. There was a footpath down to the town next to the house which was great but a bit of a challenge with the pushchair in the watery conditions!! My recommendations would be like others have said, a shower in the bath or a hand held shower attachment. We were fully aware of the situation and we took a plastic jug to rinse the children's hair. A dryer would be good too. We used the airer supplied in the kitchen which worked well but even with wellingtons and puddlesuits the grandchildren got muddy! I would also replace the armchair in the lounge. A great house and we would definitely stay again.

The house itself was lovely! on arrival we found downstairs toilet blocked which caused major problem for one of our disabled guests! Pillow's definitely need replacing sofas not good for anyone over 40 who has problems getting up and down, they were so low!.. Positives good selection crockery and cutlery, nice big lounge, lovely log burner beautiful outlook if changes were made might consider returning.
